  • The wild 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5 is heading to New Zealand, but only three will be available.
  • The Spec 5 is based on a Mustang GT and packs a supercharged V8 with 649kW/895Nm.
  • Performance will be prodigious, and so is its price tag of NZ$298,000.

CTB Performance, in partnership with RTR Vehicles, has officially launched the 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5 in New Zealand, billing it as the most exclusive and performance-focused Mustang ever offered domestically. Reflecting its rarity - and enormous NZ$298,000 price tag -  production for the NZ market is strictly limited to just three units for the 2026 model year.

This halo Mustang, which starts life as a 7th-generation Mustang GT equipped with the Performance Package and Recaro Sport Seats, represents the ultimate fusion of precision engineering and almost violently aggressive styling.

There is nothing subtle about the Mustang RTR Spec 5; even its power and price are utterly outrageous!

At the core of the Spec 5 is a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 engine paired with a 3.0-litre Whipple supercharger that together produce an enormous 649kW of power and 895Nm of torque, and the vehicle’s aggressive output is matched by an RTR by Borla Active Exhaust System, meticulously tuned for an "exhilarating sound experience". We're guessing that means its REALLY loud.

Handling is managed by the RTR Tactical Performance Suspension System, which features 30-way adjustable Coilovers and dampers, along with adjustable front and rear sway bars tuned specifically by RTR engineers for balanced street and track performance.

Ford's venerable 5.0-litre V8 gets fettled and as a 3.0-litre supercharged slapped on it for good measure.

For the first time on an RTR Mustang in New Zealand, the Spec 5 includes a front axle lift system that is capable of raising the front of the Mustang by up to 50mm at the touch of a button, ensuring usability over driveways, speed bumps, and inclines without compromising the car’s aerodynamic stance.

Visually, the Spec 5 debuts RTR’s first fully integrated widebody and carbon-composite body kit. This includes seamless composite fenders, carbon-fibre front and rear splitters, and wake towers, all designed to enhance aerodynamics and visual aggression.

The muscle car rides on 20-inch RTR Aero 5 Evo forged wheels, which are wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres (305/30R508 front and 315/30R508 rear). Stopping power is supplied by Brembo 6-piston front and 4-piston rear callipers, complemented by two-piece front rotors.

The Spec 5 is the first car to get RTR's wild widebody carbon fibre kit. Nope, it's not subtle either.

If all of that is not enough for you, buyers have the opportunity for extensive customisation, including choosing from RTR’s extended colour palette or upgrading to premium or paint-to-sample finishes. Inside, the cabin is elevated with RTR leather Recaro sport seats and an engraved serialised dash plaque signed by Vaughn Gittin Jr.

Each of the three exclusive vehicles is priced at NZ$298,000 and come with a full 5-year unlimited kilometre Ford New Zealand warranty, backed by both CTB Performance and RTR Vehicles. All sales will be handled exclusively through authorised Ford Dealerships.
