Bentley has revealed the Bentayga X Concept, a rugged one-off SUV designed to explore what a more off-road-focused Bentley could look like. The concept made its public debut at the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See, marking the start of a new multi-year partnership between Bentley and FAT International.
Rather than hinting at an imminent production model, the Bentayga X Concept is intended to spark discussion and gather feedback. Bentley is clear this is an exploration exercise, albeit one executed with typical scale, power and confidence.
Bentayga, but built for rougher ground

The concept is based on the Bentayga Speed, retaining its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 478kW and paired with permanent all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. Bentley Dynamic Ride, the brand’s 48-volt active anti-roll system, is also carried over.
Where things change dramatically is underneath and around the body. Track width has been increased by 120mm for added stability, while ride height rises by 55mm to improve suspension travel and ground clearance. The result is nearly 310mm of ground clearance and a wading depth of more than 550mm, numbers that put this concept well beyond the standard Bentayga’s comfort zone.
The widened stance is visually anchored by forged one-piece 22-inch wheels developed with specialist firm Brixton, wrapped in large-profile off-road tyres. Wheel arches have been pushed outboard by 40mm to accommodate the setup.
Form follows function

The Bentayga X Concept’s exterior is intentionally functional. Roof-mounted storage and four auxiliary spotlights hint at extended off-road adventures, while twin towing eyes at the front reinforce the utilitarian brief. A titanium Akrapovič sports exhaust remains prominent at the rear.
In true concept-car fashion, Bentley has also demonstrated the roof system’s carrying ability with an electric Bambino-size go-kart, the same type used in the FAT Karting League mounted on top. These additions push overall height to 2.49 metres.
More than a showpiece

Bentley says the Bentayga X Concept represents the third pillar of Bentayga capability, alongside outright performance and rear-seat luxury. Its appearance at the FAT Ice Race also coincides with Bentley’s expanded presence at the event, including dynamic demonstrations and appearances by several other models.
Whether elements of the Bentayga X make it into a future production SUV remains to be seen.
For now, Bentley is listening. DRIVEN Car Guide understands the brand has not disclosed any production timeline or confirmation beyond this concept stage.
