GWM brings back petrol Jolion as affordable entry model

GWM New Zealand has announced the reintroduction of the Haval Jolion petrol to the local market for 2026, as an entry-level alternative to the pricier Jolion Hybrid model. 

The petrol Jolion will be available in two trim levels - Premium and Lux - with the Premium priced at $28,990, while the top-spec Lux variant starts at $31,990.

GWM has brought the petrol-powered Jolion back to New Zealand as a budget alternative to the hybrid version.

The Jolion is equipped with a 105kW/210Nm 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that features stop/start functionality and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. According to the company, the Jolion has a combined average fuel consumption rate 6.7l/100km and has a braked towing capacity of 1500kg, with an unbraked capacity of 710kg.

Standard features on the Premium model include 17-inch alloy wheels, a 10.25-inch colour multimedia touchscreen, and connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Driver assistance technologies include adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and rear cross traffic alert. A reversing camera, roof rails, and keyless entry with push-button start are also standard.

The Jolion is available in two models, with a high level of standard equipment for a budget car.

The top-spec Lux includes all the features of the Premium, but with additional interior and exterior equipment, including a 360-degree around view camera, LED headlights, and LED daytime running lights. Inside, the Lux features a faux leather steering wheel, "Comfort-Tek" seats, a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual zone climate control and heated front seats.

"Affordability matters now more than ever," said Country Manager Cameron Thomas about Haval's reintroduction of the entry-level petrol variant.

The petrol Jolion uses a 105kW 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine hooked up to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission.

"The reintroduction of the Haval Jolion Petrol is about giving New Zealanders a sensible, reliable choice that doesn’t compromise on  features or safety, while remaining genuinely attainable in today’s economic conditions."

The petrol Jolion is available at Haval dealers across the country now.
