The classic Mini has long been a darling of the motoring world, and now British car designer Ian Callum, working with Wood and Pickett, has given it a modern twist.

The Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum is a hand-built restomod that combines retro charm with contemporary upgrades at an eye-watering price tag.

A pocket rocket with proper polish

Starting with a restored Mini MK5 Sports Pack shell (fittingly the final generation before production wrapped in 2001), Callum and co have added just the right dose of flair.

Subtle bumper extensions, wider Wood & Pickett fenders, and bespoke 13-inch alloy wheels set the stance, while LED headlights and taillights light the way.

The bespoke Anthracite metallic paint completes the look, offering a tasteful nod to modern style without losing the Mini’s signature cheek.

Under that diminutive bonnet lurks a rebuilt 1.3-litre rally engine sporting a Stage 3 upgrade. With a performance head, twin-point injection, and a reprogrammed ECU, it puts out 82kW - nearly double what the original engine managed.

A twin-exit exhaust and re-engineered manual gearbox send that power to the front wheels, promising a drive as spirited as it is stylish.

From catwalks to car parks

The first of these bespoke Minis was commissioned by none other than David Gandy. The English model, once dubbed the world’s most successful male model, has a known soft spot for classic machinery.

His garage already houses gems like a Porsche 356, a Mercedes 190 SL and a Jaguar XK120. It seems fitting that this refreshed Mini joins the mix.

Inside, it’s all about the details.

The cabin sports tan Bridge of Weir leather, a retro-inspired dash with metal switchgear and a discreet modern infotainment system with full connectivity. There’s even USB charging, so your gadgets can keep pace with your grin.

A price for passion

Hand-built in the UK in limited numbers, each Wood and Pickett Mini by Callum starts at £75,000 (around $170k).

Buyers can personalise to their heart’s content, but this isn’t a machine aimed at the bargain bin. Callum has not disclosed local availability or shipping costs yet - but no doubt, enthusiasts will find a way, as they always do with the best classic cars.
