  • There are now three more reasons to buy tickets in the Street Smart Lottery, on top of the chance to win one of three WRXs.
  • Three new 'Exclusive Motorsport Experiences' have been added to the prize pool.
  • These include corporate hospitality packages for the NZGP and ITM Taupo 440, as well as hot laps with Liam Lawson.

Last month the Street Smart Charitable Trust launched its first lottery, giving Kiwis the chance to win one of three 2025 Subaru WRXs while helping reduce road deaths across New Zealand by supporting the organisation's hands-on driver training for teenagers.

Street Smart is an almost-100 percent practical course held in a closed environment, designed to help young drivers understand vehicle dynamics, manage distractions and improve their decision-making behind the wheel.

Street Smart is unique in NZ in that young drivers drive their own cars in a supervised, closed location to truly understand vehicle dynamics and more.

The programme was launched in 2018 as a collaboration between Holden New Zealand, road safety researcher Peter Sheppard, and motor racing star Greg Murphy, but suffered a setback in 2020 with the departure of Holden and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Skoda then stepped up in 2021 to offer an initial lifeline as an official sponsor and vehicle supplier, before Subaru took over the role in 2024 following support from the Tony Quinn Foundation.

Subaru New Zealand and the Tony Quinn Foundation teamed up as major backers of Street Smart in 2024.

As well as supplying support vehicles to the Street Smart programme, Subaru New Zealand's support saw the company offering the three WRX's as prizes in the lottery, with a WRX tS 6-speed manual in iconic World Rally Blue being offered as the first prize, a WRX tS 2.4 automatic sedan, finished in Magnetite Grey as second prize and a WRX GT tS wagon loaded with more than $27,000 worth of extras in the boot as an additional prize for anyone who buys two or more tickets in any one transaction.

If this wasn't enough, the lottery has now received a further boost thanks to three "Exclusive Motorsport Experiences" being offered as additional prizes in a special promotion by the Tony Quinn Foundation and New Zealand’s latest Formula 1 star, Liam Lawson.

Corporate hospitality packages for both the New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands Motorsport Park and the ITM Taupo 440 Supercars race are on offer and, if you get in quickly, a hot lap experience in a Lamborghini Huracan at Highlands Park with Lawson behind the wheel is also up for grabs.

Subaru New Zealand is offering three WRXs as prizes in the lottery.

The NAPA 70th New Zealand Grand Prix + Highlands Aston Martin Vulcan Experience takes place on the 31st of January 2026, with the winner enjoying corporate hospitality access for two at the 70th New Zealand Grand Prix at Highlands Motorsport Park and ride in the legendary Aston Martin Vulcan with Tony Quinn at the wheel.

The ITM Taupo Super 440 Weekend Supercars Experience happens across the 11th and 12th of April 2026 and includes General Admission access, corporate hospitality at the GT Members Lounge, paddock passes for four people, as well as a fully catered suite over the weekend with special guest appearances.

But the big draw has to be the chance to get in the passenger's seat of a Lamborghini driven by a Formula 1  driver, and anyone who buys tickets before the 12th of December goes into the draw for the Lamborghini Huracán Hot Lap with Liam Lawson on the 23rd of December 2025 at Highlands.

The winner of the NZGP prize package will also get a ride in Tony Quinn's $4.2 million Aston Martin Vulcan., one of only 24 in the world

According to Street Smart, the lucky winner will "experience a heart-pounding passenger-seat ride with Liam Lawson in a Lamborghini Huracán, reaching speeds of up to 225 km/h around Highlands Motorsport Park’s world-class circuit", but you will need to be almost as quick as a Lambo driven by an F1 driver, as you only have until this Friday to go into that draw.

“I’ve seen first-hand how quickly things can go wrong on the road. Getting proper training into more young Kiwi drivers is something I’m 100% behind. I'm stoked to be part of this,” Lawson said of his involvement. All tickets for the Street Smart Lottery receive automatic entry into the special promotion, with winners being responsible for their own travel arrangements and the associated costs.

Tickets are $100 each (or buy two and get the third free), with only 10,000 available, and the lottery closes on the 21st of December 2025.
