- The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition is limited to 50 units worldwide, with deliveries starting later this year.

Mercedes-Maybach has lifted the covers on something both nostalgic and unapologetically extravagant: the new V12 Edition, based on the S 680 saloon. Only 50 examples will be built worldwide, each carrying more than a whiff of Maybach Zeppelin heritage.
Power plays: the last word in twelve-cylinders
At its heart lies a 5980cc V12 engine pushing out a colossal 450kW and 900Nm of torque. That’s enough to shove nearly 2.4 tonnes of leather-lined luxury from zero to 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds, before settling into an electronically limited 250km/h cruise.
As Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes-Maybach, put it: “The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition is a limited release of just 50 cars, showcasing the brand’s legacy… It offers bespoke design through the Manufaktur program, reflecting a tradition of combining advanced technology and exclusive style.”
Fuel consumption is predictably hefty at 14.2 to 13.2L/100km with CO₂ emissions rated between 323 to 300g/km/. We reckon nobody buying this car will care, however.
Gold leaf and quiet champagne
The Manufaktur personalisation team has gone overboard in the best way. Expect a two-tone olive metallic/obsidian black paint job, painstakingly applied over ten working days, with forged wheels to match.
The pièce de résistance is a commemorative 24-carat gold “12” emblem on the C-pillar, echoing the Zeppelin’s iconic hood ornament.
Inside, the cabin is awash with saddle brown Nappa leather, high-gloss burr walnut and quilted roof lining. Each car gets a “1 of 50” badge, silver-plated champagne flutes by Robbe & Berking, and a gold-inlaid rear console that reportedly takes a week of handcrafting.
Exclusivity served neat
Measuring 5469mm long and riding on a 3396mm wheelbase, the S 680 platform remains unchanged in size, but the Edition packs everything Maybach can throw at it: rear-axle steering, active suspension, noise cancellation, and five OLED screens for the passengers who will never, ever drive it themselves.
Deliveries begin later in 2025, and if you have to ask how much, well, you’re already too late. Only 50 people will be holding those gold-plated flutes.
