Mercedes-Benz is expanding its lifestyle line-up with something far removed from horsepower and torque: a new fragrance.

Called Deep Sea, the latest Eau de Parfum continues the brand’s “Land, Sea, Air” trilogy, this time focusing entirely on the depths of the ocean.

It’s not the first time Mercedes has ventured into scent, but this one leans heavily into atmosphere, aiming to capture the mystery and intensity of deep water in a wearable form.

Bottling the ocean

The composition sits in the “Fougère Marine” category, blending fresh, aquatic notes with warmer, woody undertones.

Up top, peppermint oil, rosemary and juniper deliver a sharp, invigorating opening. The heart shifts into more overtly marine territory, with salty, iodine-like algae notes paired with salicornia, a plant often found in coastal environments.

Lavandin adds a subtle floral layer, while the base brings depth through sandalwood, patchouli and mineral accents said to evoke driftwood worn smooth by the sea.

The fragrance was created by master perfumer Anne Flipo, who also developed earlier entries in the trilogy.

Sustainability in focus

Beyond scent, Mercedes-Benz is emphasising sustainability in the product’s development.

Key raw materials are sourced from environmentally responsible suppliers, while packaging uses recycled aluminium for the cap and ocean-derived recycled plastic for internal components.

Even the outer packaging leans eco-conscious, made from algae-based paper and produced using renewable energy.

More than a scent

The Deep Sea launch reflects a broader trend among car brands moving into lifestyle and experiential products, extending identity beyond the vehicle itself.

Available as a 60ml or 100ml Eau de Parfum, alongside a solid shower gel, the range continues Mercedes-Benz’s long-running partnership with fragrance company Give Back Beauty.

It may not come with an engine or wheels, but like the cars themselves, the idea is the same: create something that feels distinctive, immersive and recognisably Mercedes-Benz.

In this case, the journey just happens to start underwater.
