Mercedes-Benz is ramping up the adventure with new G-Class customer experiences, taking the iconic off-roader well beyond its usual stomping grounds.
From tackling Morocco’s desert dunes to conquering Austria’s infamous Schöckl mountain track, the expanded line-up of programmes offers thrill-seekers a luxury experience with a serious side of dirt.
Desert dreams and Schöckl screams
A major highlight is the new five-day G-Class Expedition Desert Edition: an 811km off-road tour through Morocco for up to 20 guests.
Beginning with a five-star stay in Marrakech, the route winds over the 2800m-high Atlas Mountains, through water crossings and rugged trails, and finishes with dramatic drifts in the Merzouga Desert.
The €14,990 (around NZ$28,900) package includes exclusive dining, desert camp accommodation and a chartered flight return from Errachidia.
Participants will drive the G 450 d, G 500, the new electric G 580 with EQ Technology, and the mighty AMG G 63 and G 63 4x4² - each vehicle handpicked to show off the G’s range from grit to green credentials.
Back in Graz, the legendary G-Class Experience Centre gets a fresh upgrade. A new Private Coaching programme ups the ante with a two-day deep dive for just six participants.
Day one includes a behind-the-scenes factory tour and driving modules, while day two takes guests behind the wheel on the legendary Schöckl in a brutal 5.6-km climb with 60% gradients and 40% inclines.
Previously, only passengers could experience the route. Now, for €9950 (NZ$19,200) per pair, drivers take the wheel themselves.
Factory thrills and corporate chills
Also on offer is the standard one-day G-Class Experience at €2490 solo or €2990 per duo (NZ$4800 to NZ$5800), featuring forest trails, water crossings and on-road agility challenges.
Guests test three diff locks, tackle the “Iron Schöckl” and see how each G-Class is made at the Magna Steyr plant.
For something even more personal, Mercedes-Benz offers an exclusive delivery experience: pick up your new G-Class in Graz with a private instructor session, overnight hotel stay and ceremonial handover in a glass cube - yours from €2750 (NZ$5300).
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class Experience Centre can now also be booked for corporate events, complete with tailored driving sessions and private hospitality at the G Base.
