MG’s new QS seven-seat SUV has picked up a five-star ANCAP safety rating, with MG Motor New Zealand framing it as a fresh proof point for its “safety, innovation and value” pitch in the large-SUV space.
Five stars, lots of sensors
MG says the QS is loaded with active safety tech, including driver monitoring, rear collision warning, cross-traffic alert with auto braking, speed limit assistance and lane-change assist.
The spec list also calls out Automated Emergency Braking (with pedestrian detection), Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring, Lane Keeping Assistance, Forward Collision Alert, Tyre Pressure Monitoring and seven airbags - all contributing to the top ANCAP result.
Family-haulier credentials
The QS is positioned as a “true 7-seater” aimed squarely at family duty, with a flexible interior and a third row that folds flat for extra cargo room with prams, sports bags or weekend luggage without having to play boot-Tetris every Friday.

MG’s local lineup keeps it simple on pricing: the QS Excite Front-Wheel Drive starts at $49,990, while the QS Essence All-Wheel Drive is $55,990 (both plus on-road costs).
