Land Rover has unveiled the Defender Octa Black: a bold, brooding take on its flagship 4x4 that’s as ready for the red carpet as it is for the rough stuff.
All black, all attitude
The Defender Octa Black takes the already imposing Octa and dials up the drama. Finished in Narvik Black (the deepest hue in the Defender palette), this version features as many as 30 exterior elements treated in either Gloss or Satin Black.
Highlights include quad exhaust tips, front and rear scuff plates in Satin Black powder coat and Shadow Atlas script detailing. For those wanting to go even stealthier, an optional Matte Protective Film is on offer.
Buyers can choose between 20-inch forged wheels or 22-inch Gloss Black alloys, both with black centre caps.
Even the brake callipers get the blackout treatment, sporting Gloss Black with contrasting Sentient Silver script.
Inside: tough meets tactile
Step inside, and the Octa Black continues its dark theme with Ebony Semi-Aniline leather paired with Kvadrat textile - a first for the Defender.
The Performance Seats feature exclusive perforation patterns and new stitching details, with backrests and armrest hinges finished in Carpathian Grey. The cabin also offers optional chopped carbon fibre trim, reinforcing the tough-luxury ethos.
A 13.1-inch touchscreen sits front and centre, handling infotainment duties, while the innovative Body and Soul Seats (BASS) let front occupants feel their music as well as hear it.
The system, powered by a 700W Meridian Surround setup, uses vibro-acoustic tech co-developed with Subpac - the same AI-driven audio magic used by recording artists.
A rock star with serious chops
Under the bonnet, the Octa Black packs the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 as its standard sibling, delivering 467kW. It rides on 6D Dynamics suspension and features Octa Mode for enhanced off-road prowess.
Adding to its rock star credentials, the Defender is the official automotive partner for Oasis Live ’25, chauffeuring the iconic English band on their 41-date global tour.
