- The all-electric Mercedes-Benz CLA Shooting Brake offers up to 761km of WLTP range and 200kW output.
- Fast charging adds 310km of range in 10 minutes via 800V architecture and 320kW DC capacity.
- Interior features include a panoramic roof with starry sky lighting and optional triple-screen MBUX Superscreen.
Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the first-ever fully electric CLA Shooting Brake, a swooping, stylish estate with EQ Technology under the skin - and more than a few tricks up its illuminated sleeve. It follows the debut of the all-new CLA sedan, expected in New Zealand next year.
Set to hit roads (starting in Europe) from March 2026, this Shooting Brake extends the CLA’s sporty proportions into electric territory while carving out extra room for both gear and grand tours.
Despite its sleek silhouette, practicality remains front and centre. With up to 1290L of boot space (455L with seats up) plus a 101L frunk, it’s more versatile than it looks.
The roof rails handle 75kg of adventure kit, while a braked towing capacity of up to 1800kg puts caravans and jet skis well within reach.
Rapid range meets cosmic flair
Two launch variants headline the range: the CLA 250+ Shooting Brake and the dual-motor CLA 350 4Matic.
The former delivers 200kW and up to 761km of WLTP range, while the latter ups the ante with 260kW and all-paw grip, still managing 730km between top-ups.
Both models run on an 85kWh battery and an 800V architecture, enabling a 310km recharge in just 10 minutes (300km for the 350).
Acceleration is brisk: 0 to 100 km/h takes just 6.8 seconds in the 250+, or 5.0 seconds in the 350. Top speed is rated at an electronically capped 210km/h. Under braking, energy recuperation of up to 200kW boosts efficiency without the harsh pedal feel.
From panoramic glass to gaming-class
Tech lovers will find plenty to admire inside. A massive panoramic roof with 158 ambient-lit stars sets the mood - literally.
The optional “starry sky” even syncs with the cabin’s ambient lighting. MBUX Superscreen spans the dash with up to three displays, running real-time graphics powered by the Unity game engine.
Whether it’s ChatGPT-based voice assistance or streaming Disney+ from the passenger seat, digital life is baked in.
As Mathias Geisen, Mercedes-Benz board member for Sales, puts it: “The new CLA Shooting Brake is designed for those who appreciate the dynamism of a sporty vehicle but don’t want to compromise on space and practicality in everyday life.”
With its mix of long-distance range, flexible cargo options and visual drama, the CLA Shooting Brake brings a fresh dimension to the EV estate market, one that’s as ready for family road trips as it is for stargazing in the driveway.
