- The Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition has been revealed.
- It will go on display at next week's Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.
- But does it go to eleven?
Land Rover has gone all Spinal Tap with its latest special edition, answering the question of just how more black can a Range Rover be with the Sport SV Black Edition. And that answer is, of course, none. None more black.
Available to order "in late 2025", the Range Rover Sport SV Black Edition is only available in Narvik Black with a full Narvik Gloss Black Exterior Pack, a black-painted carbon fibre bonnet, gloss black forged 23-inch alloy wheels with gloss black brake calipers and gloss black quad exhausts. Even the badges are - you guessed it - gloss black.
Things get even blacker on the inside, with an interior that the company describes as "dark and purposeful" and features new SV black illuminated treadplates, performance seats finished in Ebony Windsor (that's black, by the way) leather and "Gloss Grand Black finishers" to complete the look.
The Black Edition is powered by a 467kW/750Nm 4.4litre Twin Turbo mild-hybrid V8 petrol engine and is capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 3.8 seconds, with a top speed of 290km/h.

"We’ve created a vehicle that combines pure power and performance with a gritty, uncompromising attitude that demands attention," said Martin Limpert, Global Managing Director for Range Rover.
"Range Rover’s design team has gone beyond anything we’ve offered previously with black packs or options, giving every single exterior and interior element a sophisticated Narvik black treatment; it appears to the eye, as if the vehicle has been dipped in gloss."

Although, presumably, unlike the hapless British heavy metal band at the centre of Rob Reiner and Christopher Guest's legendary 1984 "Rockumentary", Range Rover has done it on purpose.
The Range Rover Sport SV Black will be previewed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, UK, from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 July 2025. It will be available to order from late 2025 and presumably the "Goes to 11 Edition" will be along soon after...
