Italy's State Police has added a Lamborghini Temerario for urgent organ and medical-supply transport.
Automobili Lamborghini unveiled the specially liveried Temerario at its Sant'Agata Bolognese headquarters. Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi and Lamborghini chairman and chief executive Stephan Winkelmann attended the presentation.
The finished car wears the State Police's blue-and-white livery, POLIZIA graphics and a roof-mounted emergency light bar. Lamborghini supplied exterior, cabin and presentation photographs of the completed vehicle. The official image set also shows the fitted cabin.
The car continues a relationship between Lamborghini and the Italian State Police that dates back to 2004. Its assignment is urgent medical logistics, including the transport of organs and medical supplies.
677kW hybrid power for urgent work
Beneath the police colours is Lamborghini's latest electrified powertrain. A 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 works with 3 electric motors, with the manufacturer quoting a combined 920 CV. Converted to the metric power unit used in New Zealand, that is 677kW.
Lamborghini has not said how the drivetrain or cabin was modified for medical work. The announcement identifies urgent logistics, not pursuit duty, as the car's role.
200 organ transports since 2004
The Temerario is the 6th Lamborghini supplied through the collaboration. Across more than 2 decades, the fleet has completed more than 200 organ transports, according to the manufacturer.
The partnership also reaches beyond emergency deliveries. Lamborghini says the cars have appeared at more than 1,500 road-safety education events, using their considerable public appeal to draw attention to safer behaviour on the road.
The new Temerario therefore has 2 distinct assignments: time-critical medical logistics and road-safety education.
