BMW is joining Spider-Man on the big screen, with its new iX3 and 5 Series Sedan integrated into Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The Sony Pictures film opens in cinemas on 31 July 2026, putting two of BMW's current models into the plot. For the iX3, the appearance also gives the first Neue Klasse model a prominent pop-culture outing.
BMW takes a role in Spider-Man's next chapter
“We are proud to accompany this new Spider-Man chapter with the BMW iX3, our first model of the Neue Klasse,” said Bernd Körber.
BMW has not disclosed further details about how either car features in the story, so cinemagoers will need to wait for the film to see precisely where the iX3 and 5 Series Sedan fit into the action.
Colour-changing iX3 brings the theme to life
The collaboration extends beyond the cars appearing on screen. BMW has created a one-off iX3 Flow – Spider-Man Brand New Day, using full-colour E Ink Prism elements across the vehicle's exterior.
That technology gives the special iX3 a colour-changing finish tied directly to the film. The one-off vehicle is due to remain on display at BMW Welt in Munich until September, offering visitors a closer look after the film reaches cinemas.
BMW is also offering a Spider-Man animation for suitably equipped vehicles in participating markets from 27 July to 10 August. The company says the animation is available in more than 70 countries on vehicles built after July 2020 and running BMW Operating System 7, 8, 8.5, 9 or X.
However, participating-market availability has not been disclosed for New Zealand. That means local BMW owners should not assume the animation will appear in their vehicles, even if their car meets the stated age and operating-system requirements.
