  • BYD Auto New Zealand has announced it is expanding its sales and service network across the country.
  • The company is adding six new locations in both the North and South Island.
  • This brings the total number of BYD locations in New Zealand to 25.

BYD Auto New Zealand has confirmed plans to increase its authorised dealer and service network with the addition of six new locations across New Zealand. The company says this expansion aims to address the current demand for electric and hybrid vehicles by increasing the company's total footprint from its existing 19 showrooms.

The new facilities include a 10,000-square-metre site in Manukau, South Auckland, which is scheduled to open on July 7 at 686 Great South Road. This location, owned by the Andrew Simms Group, will offer both sales and after-sales services. Additionally, Ebbetts Pukekohe is set to begin operations at 6 Svendsen Road on July 1 to serve the Franklin region.

In Wellington, Automarque BYD is preparing to open a showroom at 55 Featherston Street in the central business district in mid-July. This new city location will complement the company’s existing facility in Lower Hutt. Further south, the Andrew Simms Group is slated to open a dedicated showroom in Invercargill to provide sales and service support for the Southland area.

The expansion is scheduled to continue into the third quarter of 2026 with two locations from the Colonial Motor Company. These include Adventure Motors in the Wairarapa and a new dealership in Hornby, Christchurch.

According to Warren Willmot, General Manager of BYD Auto NZ, the increased network density is intended to provide both metropolitan and regional customers with access to sales and parts support.

“The expansion of our dealer network reflects the remarkable confidence the New Zealand market has shown in the BYD brand,” said Willmot.

"We are committed to ensuring every New Zealander, whether in a major city or a regional centre, has access
to a BYD dealership with world-class customer experience and aftersales support."
