- Citroen's electric 2CV Concept previews a future small car the brand plans to present by 2028.
- Proposed European production model has a target starting price of around €15k (around NZ$30k).
- Concept combines a folding fabric roof with a removable front bench and replaceable bumpers.
Citroen has brought the 2CV name back to Paris with an electric concept that packs a picnic bench into its plans for a cheaper small car.
The 3.76m show car previews a future production model the French brand intends to present by 2028, with European manufacturing and a target starting price of around €15,000 (currently around NZ$30,000).

That figure is a European price ambition. Citroen has yet to confirm pricing or announce New Zealand availability, and 2028 is its deadline for presenting the production model, not a confirmed on-sale date.
Small car, simple construction
Positioned between the Ami and C3, the concept has a weight target of around 1000kg. Citroen's approach to keeping the car simple extends to flat body panels and separate bumpers that can be replaced individually, with the intention of making manufacturing and repairs easier.
The concept's round headlamps and curved roof recall the original 2CV, which made its debut at the 1948 Paris motor show and remained in production until 1990. A folding fabric roof carries another familiar detail into the electric design.

Inside, yellow checked seats give the orange car a cheerful cabin, but the front bench has a practical party trick: it can be removed for a picnic. Storage baskets and a removable Radioën radio and speaker continue the idea of equipment that can come along when occupants leave the car.

Range and power

Citroen has not disclosed battery capacity, power, driving range or charging figures. Those omissions leave the proposed car's electric capability an open question alongside its final price.
The 2CV Concept itself is a show car, without homologation or availability for general sale. Buyers will have to wait for the future production model to see how much of the folding-roof, removable-bench design reaches the road.
