Ferrari has turned its latest GT racing know-how into a track-only customer car without the usual competition rulebook attached.
The 296 GT Modificata has been created for the marque's Club Competizioni GT programme and draws directly from the 296 GT3 Evo.
However, unlike the racing car that inspired it, the Modificata does not have to conform to racing homologation constraints.
That distinction is central to what Ferrari has built. Rather than preparing a machine for a regulated championship class, the company has developed a car specifically around its own track programme.
537kW from a twin-turbo V6
Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 producing 537kW. Ferrari also expresses that output as 730cv. That disclosed figure anchors the technical outline, while several other performance numbers remain under wraps.
Ferrari says the project also incorporates dedicated chassis and aerodynamic development, although it has not disclosed detailed performance figures such as acceleration, top speed or torque.
The result is positioned as a focused track machine, not a new road-going member of the 296 range. Its connection to the GT3 Evo provides the technical starting point, while the absence of homologation limits gives Ferrari room to shape the Modificata for Club Competizioni GT use.
Ferrari has not disclosed New Zealand pricing, allocation or availability. It has also not announced a production total.
For now, the 296 GT Modificata is best understood as a specialised addition to Ferrari's customer track programme: one that borrows from the 296 GT3 Evo, then steps outside the racing regulations that define its donor.
