- Jaguar has revealed the interior of its upcoming Type 01 all-electric luxury GT due for release later this year.
- The Type 01 is intended to compete against the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley in the super luxury segment.
- The final car will pack a tri-motor setup with more than 745kW and 1300Nm on tap.
Jaguar has released the first images and details of the interior of its upcoming Type 01, a polarising four-door electric grand tourer (GT) that serves as the first production model under the company’s new "modernist" creative philosophy.
The Type 01 marks a significant pivot for the brand as it moves away from volume sales to compete in the ultra-luxury segment against manufacturers like Bentley and Rolls-Royce, and is developed on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA), a platform engineered to support high performance and a substantial cabin length.
Which is very much what is on show in the new images - the Type 01's interior is defined by a huge 3.2-metre central spine with a "brass-inspired" finish that runs the entire length of the cabin, dividing the space into four individual seating areas.
Jaguar says this longitudinal layout intentionally deviates from the horizontal design standards found in most modern vehicles to emphasise the car's length, while the driver’s area features a low seating position intended to provide a "focused environment".
The dashboard is slim and incorporates linear strikethrough graphics that visually merge the interior with the car’s exterior bonnet. Materials used throughout the cabin include travertine stone, which functions as a "structural plinth" for the seats, and artisan wool-blend textiles.
According to Jaguar's chief interior designer, Thomas Holden, the company's approach to technology in the Type 01 involves integrating infotainment directly into the cabin’s architecture through a "control on demand" strategy - digital interfaces and storage compartments remain concealed within the dashboard and panels until they are required.
"Our holistic design philosophy translates the vehicle’s exterior presence into a distinctive interior architecture. In contrast to the horizontal interior design norm, we emphasise its dramatic longitudinal nature through the central spine – an architectural statement that creates four individual spaces," he said.
"With authentic materials, technology on demand and reductive flowing surfaces, Type 01 presents unmistakable drama and theatre that will define the modern luxury automotive interior of the future."
To improve visibility, a digital ClearSight rear-view display is positioned centrally at the base of the windscreen, sitting level with the door mirrors. For added personalization, the cabin includes a "Prism" case containing natural material totems that, when placed in the centre console, adjust the ambient lighting, soundscape, and screen graphics.
Underneath the bodywork, the Type 01 will feature a tri-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain - with one motor on the front axle and two on the rear - producing more than 745kW and 1300Nm of torque. Jaguar claims a targeted range of approximately 700km WLTP, supported by a 120kWh battery pack and an 800V high-voltage architecture.
Rapid charging is expected to add up to 320 kilometres of range in roughly 15 minutes, while the vehicle will feature air suspension, twin-valve active dampers, and six degrees of rear-wheel steering to balance ride comfort with agility.
While official pricing has not been confirmed, industry estimates place the Type 01 in the £120,000 to £150,000 (NZ$275,000 to NZ$345,000) bracket. A prototype featuring a distinctive wrap is currently appearing at Monterey Car Week and will be showcased at the Pebble Beach Concours on August 16.
The final production version of the Jaguar Type 01 is scheduled for a full public reveal in New York on October 6, 2026, with the first customer deliveries expected to begin in early 2027.
