  • Adds AMG Line, Night Package and exclusive 20-inch AMG wheels

Mercedes-Benz New Zealand has added a new GLA 200 Special Edition to its compact SUV range, bringing a more distinctive look and a stronger equipment list to the familiar premium SUV.

Priced from $78,900 drive-away, the Special Edition builds on the GLA 200 with AMG Line styling, the Night Package and a set of details unique to this version.

Grey area, good way

The headline change is the paint. Manufaktur Alpine Grey solid is being offered on the GLA for the first time as part of this edition, giving the SUV a cleaner, more assertive finish than the usual metallic palette.

It’s paired with 20-inch AMG 10-twin-spoke light-alloy wheels in high-gloss black, also exclusive to this Special Edition. Add the Night Package’s extended black exterior accents and the result is a GLA that leans harder into sporty urban style without pretending to be a full AMG model.

A panoramic sunroof is also included, giving the compact cabin a more open feel and adding another premium touch to the package.

Cabin keeps the theme

Inside, Mercedes-Benz continues the grey-and-black treatment with grey seat belts, contrast stitching on the sports seats and light-grained aluminium trim.

The changes are mostly visual, but that’s clearly the point. This is not positioned as a performance upgrade; it’s a design-led variant aimed at buyers who want their GLA to stand apart from the regular line-up.

Mercedes-Benz New Zealand describes the model as a “compelling offer” for customers seeking individuality within the GLA range, and the specification backs that up without overcomplicating the formula.

Design does the lifting

The GLA has always sat in that useful space between hatchback ease and SUV stance. This Special Edition doesn’t reinvent it, but it does sharpen the presentation with a factory-backed combination of paint, wheels and trim that would be hard to replicate as neatly after purchase.

For buyers already looking at a GLA 200, the Special Edition adds just enough theatre to make the compact Benz feel a little more personal.
