New Zealand order books have opened for the Range Rover Sport Electric, with Dynamic SE and Autobiography trims joining the local line-up.
Final specifications put the battery-powered Sport at approximately 405kW and 850Nm, with a claimed 0–100km/h time of 4.5 seconds using Dynamic Launch Mode.
The announcement moves beyond July's Sport preview, giving prospective buyers performance and charging figures to consider. This is the electric version of the Sport, a separate model from the full-size Range Rover Electric.
Up to 609km between charges
A 118.5kWh battery and 800V electrical architecture underpin the Sport Electric's claimed range of up to 609km. That figure comes from WLTP testing; the distance achieved on the road will depend on conditions and use.
Under peak charging conditions, Range Rover says the SUV can add up to 220km of range in ten minutes, with a 10–80% charge taking around 22 minutes. The battery carries an eight-year, 160,000km warranty.
Power comes from two electric motors, each rated at 260kW. Combined system output is approximately 405kW. Range Rover also says torque builds 50% faster than in the full-size Range Rover Electric.
Quarry climbs and chassis changes
The electric Sport's body is 61% stiffer than the Sport plug-in hybrid's, while its centre of gravity sits 73mm lower. Its chassis technology includes Adaptive Dynamics and Twin Valve Dampers. Electronic Active Roll Control and all-wheel steering are standard on the approximately 405kW model, and optional on the lower-powered variant.
Range Rover chose Italy's Carrara marble quarries for its final demonstration, putting the SUV through a controlled test with professional drivers. The manufacturer claims the Sport Electric can tackle 45-degree inclines and wade through water up to 900mm deep.
Production takes place at Solihull in the UK, alongside petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sports. New Zealand pricing and a local delivery date have yet to be disclosed.
