Toyota has detailed a fresh round of changes for the GR86, concentrating on control responses, driver-assistance hardware and a handful of cabin details rather than headline-grabbing specifications.
Japanese dealers will begin taking orders on 28 August. Toyota has not disclosed New Zealand availability or pricing for the upgraded car.
Sharper responses behind the wheel
Toyota says it has revised the GR86's throttle and steering controls, along with the manual model's shift operation.
The changes focus on how the car responds to its driver, although the company has not announced new power or performance figures with this update.
The RZ grade also receives a handful of interior revisions.
Switches are finished to reduce reflections, while the red accent treatment has been reworked. Solid Gray returns to the exterior colour range, giving buyers another understated choice.
Those changes arrive as the current-generation GR86 passes a notable milestone.
Toyota says approximately 110,000 examples have been delivered worldwide, underlining the reach of a sports car that remains relatively specialised beside the company's mainstream models.
EyeSight adds another camera
Toyota is moving the GR86's EyeSight system from two cameras to three, giving the upgraded car an expanded camera set.
Toyota has not detailed whether that hardware change brings any additional driver-assistance functions.
New Zealand equipment details have not been announced.
Automatic joins the Cup Car Basic
The GR86 Cup Car Basic will also become available with an automatic transmission. Toyota plans to begin shipments of that version in December 2026.
The addition broadens the model's transmission choice beyond its existing manual configuration. Further market details have not been disclosed.
