Xpeng is preparing to give its largest SUV a global introduction, with the G9L set to make its international debut at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October.
The Chinese carmaker says the flagship SUV is intended for 64 markets, while production will be split between Guangzhou, China, and Magna's plant in Graz, Austria. The latter would make the G9L Xpeng's fourth model produced in Europe, following the G6, G9 and P7+.
A large SUV with two powertrain paths
At 5120mm long with a 3100mm wheelbase, the G9L occupies substantial territory even among large SUVs. Xpeng plans to offer both battery-electric and range-extender electric versions, broadening its appeal in markets where charging access and long-distance travel remain purchase considerations.
Detailed power, range and pricing figures for global versions have not been disclosed. Those details are likely to matter as Xpeng positions the G9L against established premium-brand SUVs in Europe and elsewhere.
Safety programme spans 26 countries and regions
Xpeng says the G9L has completed 192 crash tests covering Euro NCAP, ANCAP, C-NCAP and CIASI protocols. The company also reports more than 6.74 million km of testing across 26 countries and regions.
That development programme signals a vehicle being prepared for requirements beyond its home market, rather than a China-market model receiving a simple export conversion. European production should also help Xpeng support regional supply as the brand expands its international footprint.
The Paris unveiling will provide the first fuller look at the global-market G9L and may clarify which configurations will reach individual regions. Paris is the first announced stop in that rollout. New Zealand availability has not been announced.
