- L03 enters market $10k cheaper than current G6 SUV.

XPeng will reach down under the $50k mark in New Zealand for the first time with its SUV-coupe-style L03. But the new model also takes it to new places in terms of powertrain technology, with the option of a range-extender hybrid called Kunpeng Super Electric System.
The brand's current G6 and X9 models are both pure-electric only.
The L03 line-up comprises four variants, which the company says spans "efficient everyday EV driving, long-range electric mobility, high-performance AWD and range-extended electric technology".
The L03 RWD standard range is $49,990, the long range version of same is $54,990 and the AWD Performance Ultra is $64,990. All are battery electric (BEV), with range between 440-520km depending on model.
Currently, Xpeng's cheapest Kiwi model is the G6 RWD, at $59,990.
The L03 PowerX introduces the company's super hybrid technology and is priced at $49,990. Xpeng claims up to 1017km total range.
The petrol engine in the range-extender powertrain does not directly drive the wheels. The L03 is propelled only by its electric motor, the engine generating electric for longer trips. The company says AI-powered energy management coordinates power and energy use across different driving scenarios.
XOS 6 is Xpeng’s latest smart cabin operating system, bringing navigation, connectivity, voice interaction and vehicle controls into a single digital environment. Designed as a "software-defined cabin", XOS 6 can evolve through over-the-air software updates.
At 4650mm, the L03 is just 100km shorter than the current G6, and closer still in wheelbase measurement: at 2850mm, just 40mm shorter.
Xpeng is currently inviting expressions of interest. Delivery dates are yet to be confirmed.
