Skoda has given us our first proper look inside the upcoming Epiq, its new entry-level electric compact SUV crossover, ahead of a full world premiere later this month.
The production model will be revealed in Zurich at 2pm on May 19, 2026, with Skoda positioning the Epiq as its most affordable fully electric SUV and a key part of its plan to double its BEV portfolio this year. Small, electric and sensible? Very Skoda. But the cabin sketches suggest it is trying to be a little cooler about it.
Modern Solid goes inside

The Epiq will be the first Skoda series-production model to fully adopt the brand’s Modern Solid interior design language. In plain terms, that means a cleaner layout, fewer visual distractions and a more structured cabin.
The sketches show a simple, angular dashboard with a horizontal layout replacing a more conventional cockpit design. Skoda says this helps create a stronger sense of space and openness, which should matter in a compact SUV where every millimetre needs to earn its keep.
Ambient lighting is also part of the package, intended to give the cabin a warmer, more welcoming feel rather than the cold-tech look some budget EVs fall into.
Practicality still gets a vote

Skoda is not abandoning its usual focus on usability. The Epiq interior includes an open storage compartment, while the freestanding centre console integrates wireless phone charging.
The brand also says sustainable materials are used selectively, in keeping with the Modern Solid approach. Full material details, however, are being held back for the reveal, so DRIVEN understands Skoda has not disclosed final interior specifications yet.
Small EV, bigger role

The Epiq is part of the European Urban Car Family within Volkswagen Group’s Brand Group Core, a project aimed at making electric mobility more accessible to a broader customer base.
That makes this more than a styling tease. The Epiq is set to become one of Skoda’s most important EVs, sitting at the lower end of the electric SUV ladder and potentially opening the brand’s BEV range to buyers who might find larger models such as the Enyaq or Elroq a stretch.
More detail will come when the Epiq is fully unveiled on May 19. For now, Skoda appears to be aiming for a cabin that is simple, practical and quietly characterful, which is pretty much the brand’s happy place.
